Brad Botkin at the USAC wrote this post about dR, his past, whats he’s been through, his present and his future. Donny is over in South Africa competeing in the UCI Supercross race this weekend looking to make some moves and get back on the podium after a year of injuries.

dR is one of the few BMX racers who rely more on outside sponsors than one particular brand.

“You’ve got to figure,” Mesenbrink said, “if that brand can get its message across to 15,000 fans, they could easily sell 20 times in product what they’re paying in incentives. It makes sense for these companies to do that — there’s not much risk when you’re only talking a couple thousand dollars.”

There is an interesting article over on espn.com/action talking about social media, and how a lot of athletes are getting deals and bonus’ based on how many followers they have on twitter and fans they have on facebook. It’s kind of crazy to think that this is what brands are looking for, but it’s 2011 and ‘web 2.0′ has taken over.

Tony posted this interview up over on thoffonline.com I’m only half way through my listen right now, but it’s a good one. Both of those dudes are really wordy when they talk(no offense) so it goes on a bit. Fun Fact: You can get your lung fused to your ribcage.

Mike Carruth over at BMXNews.com has an awesome post up explaining in details how team USA will be selected. It turns out, they don’t start counting numbers until August of this year and the final team will not be determined until June 2012. Check out the story here.
