Some riding and a bit of twitter/facebook questions answered. Including when will the Etnies Clip shoes come out, and some BMX Racing “Lifestlye” shoes. Cool to see people doing more self promotion and stuff like this recently.

Dale Holmes is one Europe’s of first BMX heros. With the resume to back him up, it goes without saying that he kicked ass in the 90′s and was one of the more big time pros in his era. For the last handful of years he has played Team Manager over at Free Agent as has one of the dream teams in BMX. With Maris Strombergs, Cristian Becerine and Kyle Bennett rostered as the Free Agent pro’s, they do work. Throw in amateur Juan Marin as their AM you’ve got a dialed program. I caught up with Dale while down in Florida at the Gator Nationals to ask him a few questions in regards to FA/RS as well as his new gig of co-hosting the ABA’s new TV show with Craig Reynolds. Check out the interview and some more photos after clicking “Read More” below.

I don’t think I can say enough how much I dislike podcasts. Tony Hoffman is a solid dude, Mike Carruth over at BMXNews did an awesome podcast with him (it’s still running in the background right now). It’s looong (longer than the normal long of them) but Tony has alot to say, so go hear it here.

When I first started covering racing for ESPN, Tommy Zula was the first person I did a feature on(see it here) It’s been a couple of years, and he’s stepped himself up quite a bit, he’s been hitting a ton of ABA Races as a Single A Pro working his way up to the Elite class and making a ton of podiums along the way. Beyond that, he’s moved to the West Coast and started training full time. He’s still repping DK but has picked up some help along the way. Read more to find out what Tommy Zula’s been up to.

Tony posted this interview up over on thoffonline.com I’m only half way through my listen right now, but it’s a good one. Both of those dudes are really wordy when they talk(no offense) so it goes on a bit. Fun Fact: You can get your lung fused to your ribcage.
Props to Tony for making content happen.
The only time I see Al Cayne is in a video on the internet or at the subway station on the way home from work, but here he is getting it done with Chad Powers of Powers Bike Shop. Talking about the team for 2011, they managed to pick up Allstate as a sponsor. If any of them take you out in a race, sue as hard as you can.
Tony Hoffman posted up this bike check with Donny Robinson over on www.thoffonline.com. Watch it to find out wether he travels with a bike, or just stops at a local Walmart every weekend.

At the end of the day though, to represent a company with a logo on the jersey and additional logos on top of using and representing their product, it would take atleast $5k per year, and that would go up depending on how big they want their logo.
Above is one of the better quotes out of the Jared Graves interview over on BMXUltra. It seems like people don’t want to mention money, but he threw the numbers right out, How does this compare to the money being made in BMX for a cosponsorship? Check out the interview here.
